My 3 Top Tips from the Fertility Focus Telesummit

March 28, 2012

Every year I hold a live online event, where I interview some of the top fertility experts from around the world. This month saw the third Fertility Focus Telesummit and I was once again amazed by the wide range of information shared by the experts. I know many of the 3,000 attendees were too, and I’ve received lots of feedback about how they’re taking this new found information about their fertility and taking real positive action.

I’ve been thinking about what I learnt this year at the Telesummit, and I felt there were some very clear and extremely important messages coming from all of our experts. I want to share those with you now as my ’3 Top Tips from the Fertility Focus Telesummit’!

1. Your start point should be to do everything needed to get a good diagnosis and try to find out why you are having fertility issues. Without this diagnosis you may not be targeting the correct areas with any treatments, therapies or supplements you take. Of course you may after extensive testing be told you have ‘unexplained infertility’, however this is still useful information for any fertility doctors or therapists you consult. Don’t try to find solutions until you’ve tried to find a diagnosis.

2. Be involved in your fertility investigations and treatment as much as you possibly can. Show an interest, question your doctor and don’t hand over all the power and responsibility to them. It’s your body, your health and your baby you’re trying to conceive. You will feel so much more in control and empowered if you take steps to be involved, and this is can help you cope so much better emotionally.

3. Look at the big picture of your fertility and all the elements that can contribute to optimising it and helping you conceive. Both the mind and body are key when trying for a baby so make sure you are nurturing both. And also be careful not to stop looking at yourself holistically if you decide to use a treatment like IVF. It is just as important to prepare your mind and body at this time as it would be if you were trying naturally.

I’d love to hear what your insights were from the Fertility Focus Telesummit this year. What have you learnt? What will you be now doing differently to conceive your baby? Feel free to share by commenting below!
